Detailed Description
PHOENIX TMI PERSEUS – MULTI-CHANNEL DATA ACQUISITION AND SIGNAL PROCESSING UNIT
Phoenix TMI Perseus is a multi-channel data acquisition and signal processing unit developed for geotechnical and material testing systems. The device supports multiple sensor types, acquires measurement data, and transmits data to a computer for monitoring, storage, and test result processing.
With 6 independent measurement channels, Perseus can be flexibly configured for different testing equipment, including triaxial testing systems, UCT machines, consolidation testing systems, and other systems using load cells, displacement sensors, or pressure transducers.
Its modular design allows multiple Phoenix TMI Perseus units to operate simultaneously within the same system, providing the foundation for centralized data acquisition solutions such as Phoenix TMI SMARTLOG.
APPLICATIONS
Phoenix TMI Perseus can be integrated into a wide range of testing systems, including:
Triaxial testing systems
UCT / Unconfined Compression Test machines
Consolidation testing systems
Force and displacement measurement systems
Pressure measurement systems
Testing equipment requiring simultaneous acquisition from multiple sensors
Centralized data acquisition systems using multiple Perseus modules
SIGNAL ACQUISITION SYSTEM
Each Phoenix TMI Perseus is equipped with 6 measurement channels, allowing multiple sensors to be connected simultaneously within one system.
The measurement channels can be configured to support different signal ranges, including:
0–4 mV/V
Up to 0–15 mV/V for compatible sensors
The device can acquire signals from:
Load cells
Displacement sensors
Pressure transducers
Other compatible sensors depending on the system configuration
MODULAR EXPANSION
One of the key features of Phoenix TMI Perseus is its ability to scale by using multiple Perseus units within the same system.
For example, in a consolidation testing system, each Perseus can acquire data from up to 6 sensors. When additional machines or measurement points are required, more Perseus units can be added to increase the total number of acquisition channels.
This modular architecture provides the foundation for the Phoenix TMI SMARTLOG solution, enabling centralized data collection from multiple testing machines and sensors within a single monitoring and processing system.
CONNECTIVITY AND DATA TRANSMISSION
Phoenix TMI Perseus supports data transmission over Wi-Fi using the MQTT protocol, allowing sensor data to be sent to an MQTT broker within the local network.
The data flow operates as follows:
Perseus acquires and processes signals from connected sensors
Measurement data is transmitted over Wi-Fi to the MQTT broker
The computer connects to the same Wi-Fi network
PC software connects to the MQTT broker and subscribes to the corresponding topics
Data from Perseus is received and displayed in real time on the software
This architecture separates the measurement hardware from the computer, reduces dependence on direct cable connections, and provides a scalable foundation for multiple devices operating within the same system.
EXPANSION WITH THE PHOENIX TMI SMARTLOG SOLUTION
Each Phoenix TMI Perseus can acquire up to 6 sensor channels. When more measurement points are required, multiple Perseus units can be deployed on the same network.
The Perseus units transmit their data to the same MQTT broker, allowing the PNXSMT software to centrally collect and manage data from multiple devices.
This architecture is particularly suitable for:
Multiple consolidation testing machines operating simultaneously
Triaxial testing systems
UCT machines
Force, displacement, and pressure measurement systems
Laboratories that need to collect data from multiple testing devices over a shared network
The data flow can be summarized as:
Sensors → Phoenix TMI Perseus → Wi-Fi → MQTT Broker → PC
